Help keep BlueOnyx fast, secure, and independent

A quick note about BlueOnyx’s future (and how you can help)

Dear BlueOnyx community,

BlueOnyx is alive and active — new builds, security updates, and ongoing development of the GUI, CCEd v2, API v2, Incus, Rampart, and related components continue at full pace.

For the past 17 years, the project has been funded largely out of my own pocket, alongside in-kind support from a few long-time partners — especially Virtbiz.com and BB-One.net, who have generously provided hardware, colocation, and bandwidth over many years. This model kept BlueOnyx independent and sustainable for a long time. However, the current infrastructure requirements — build farms, mirrors, signing services, multiple test nodes, and growing bandwidth needs — now exceed what a handful of individuals and small sponsors can realistically continue to support alone.

I’m therefore turning to the people and companies who rely on BlueOnyx every day and asking you to become direct supporters of the project.

Your contribution — whether one-time or, ideally, recurring — goes 100% toward:

  • Servers, build systems, mirrors and bandwidth
  • Security tracking and rapid patch releases across all supported branches
  • Ongoing modernization and new feature development

This is not a "feature fundraiser" - it’s about shared community ownership of the infrastructure that allows development to continue at the pace you’ve come to expect.

If BlueOnyx powers your hosting business, your servers, or your clients, please consider giving back today. Even small recurring contributions add up quickly and give the project real stability.

Donations:
BlueOnyx is available free of charge. For all purposes, may they be personal, commercial, educational or whatever else you might want to use it for. However: Keeping BlueOnyx updated, adding new features to it and releasing updated ISO images is a lot of work. If you like BlueOnyx, then please consider donating something to the project. Thank you and enjoy using BlueOnyx!

Thank you for everything you’ve done for BlueOnyx over the years - and for helping ensure it stays independent, well-maintained, and community-driven for many more years to come.
